So, what is mindfulness in education? Mindfulness is a state of being which is characterized by an attitude of quietude-a state of mental focus that excludes all thoughts and concerns. The goal with mindfulness is to focus on the present moment. However, many teachers have been hesitant to teach mindfulness in education because it may cause disruptions to the routine of classroom learning. However, in this brief article, I will show how introducing mindfulness in education can enhance learning.

Mindfulness is described as being able to experience the present moment with complete focus, acceptance, and clarity. Educators, most likely, want their students to be able to fully appreciate and utilize the resources available in the lesson plan. However, in some classrooms, students spend so much time focused on the task at hand or on papers and assignments that they forget to slow down and pay attention to the present moment. By introducing mindfulness into the classroom, students will be able to fully appreciate and implement what is taught to them.

So, what is mindfulness in education? Mindfulness can be defined as paying attention to the here and now. This type of mindful attention is essential to a person’s education, career, and personal life. Educators who introduce mindfulness into the classroom have found that students are more attentive, engaged, and focused. This quality of being mindful has a powerful effect on the learning process. Here are some ways that mindfulness can improve education:

Pay attention to how you feel as you read, speak, listen to music, or do your class work.
